The Westerwood Neigborhood is celebrating 100 year anniversary with a Spring Garden Walking Tour on Saturday, June 1 from 1-5pm. The tour will also include the edible orchard at Meeting Place at Tradition Cornerstone on the Downtown Greenway which is adjacent to the neighborhood plus other homes and gardens in Westerwood. Members of the Permaculture Guild will answer questions about the edible orchard and permaculture gardening.

If you missed the strawberries in May, there are now pears growing on the trees at Meeting Place at Tradition Cornerstone! Stop by and pick a pear, but please pick just one so others may enjoy them too.

Minneapolis artist Randy Walker has been selected to design and create the Innovation Cornerstone (NE) at the corner of Lindsay Street and Murrow Boulevard. Randy's work has a relationship to both textiles and innovative play. Click here to see examples of his work and bio.
Timeline for construction of the cornerstone: Randy will return to Greensboro, June 3-5, 2015 for a series of meetings to learn more about the community to further inform his design for the Innovation Cornerstone. He will present a formal proposal for the site in July and then begin construction of the piece after approval. Anticipated installation of the artwork and completion of the site no later than Spring 2016.
Over 50 people attended the ‘roof raising’ of the Meeting Place structure onto the Tradition Cornerstone site located at the corner of Smith and Prescott Streets in December. Lajos Heder, one of the artists from Harries + Heder Collaborative was on site to supervise the placing of the roof onto the structure.
A Big Belly solar-powered trash receptacle and drinking fountain have since been installed at the site. Work continues on the site and depending on the weather, plans are to have the site completed by the end of March 2014-just in time for Spring!
This will be a great site for picnics, family gatherings, birthday parties, and a place to have lunch during your workday. Look for an upcoming announcement for the ribbon cutting. We hope to see you there!
The Tradition Cornerstone is now under construction! Developed by artists Mags Harries & Lajos Heder, the second of four cornerstones along the Downtown Greenway is located at the intersection of Smith & Spring Streets in the northwest corner of the 4-mile loop.
