2020 Run 4 the Greenway Virtual Challenge

Rosemary Plybon highlights Downtown Greenway construction and the Virtual Challenge-- click here to watch.   The #Run4Greenway is an event to raise awareness about the Downtown Greenway and a fundraiser to help us complete the Downtown Greenway as a visionary amenity for the city, its residents and visitors. The 2020 Run 4 the Greenway Virtual Challenge consists of a 4 mile run and 1 mile walk/run that you can run on your own schedule between October 17-31 and submit your results and photos on the RESULTS page and tag us at #Run4Greenway.  Grab the family, your running group, or do it on your own-- although we always encourage you to run with a partner!  There will also be a family-friendly scavenger hunt that you can do on the Downtown Greenway and throughout downtown to win prizes—learn about public art and neighborhood history along the Downtown Greenway. We will have a Pop-up Packet Pick-Up on Saturday, October 17 from 1-5pm in LoFi Park (500 N. Eugene St)—stop by to pick up the race route and Run 4 the Greenway Neck Gaiter. Participants will have an option to purchase a run shirt this year which can also be picked up on October 17th.  Swag will be mailed to participants who cannot stop by the pop-up packet pick-up-- all registered participants will get a Downtown Greenway neck gaiter. We will have a closing virtual event on Sunday, November 1 from 4-5pm.  Join us virtually on Facebook with live music with Jessica and Evan, runner prizes from local downtown businesses and sponsors and Downtown Greenway trivia! Details will be emailed to challenge participants. Prizes from Machete, Sage Mule, Deep Roots, Moore Music, Triad Lifestyle Medicine, Bryan YMCA, Scuppernong Books, First Bank, and more. It’s Not Easy Being Green ‘People’s Choice’ Award announced

Thanks to all who participated in the It's Not Easy Being Green holiday photo contest to support businesses affected by the construction of the Downtown Greenway on North Eugene Street.  A winner on social media was picked each week and received a $50 gift card from one of the four businesses: Crafted the Art of Street Food, Joymongers Brewing Company, Preyer Brewing Company & Deep Roots Market.          And the 'People's Choice' Award for the photo with the most 'likes' on social media is...... Congratulations to the winner of the 'People's Choice ' Award with a $25 gift card from each of the businesses.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest and came out to support local this holiday season!  Keep shopping local at all of our great restaurants and businesses downtown.  

It’s Not Easy Being Green Photo Contest Winner

Congratulations Week 1 Winner (@octoberlight) on winning a $50 Deep Roots gift card! Want to join in? Here's how it works: Take a photo--- or a selfie--- while shopping, dining, or drinking at Crafted Art of Street Food, Preyer Brewing Company, Joymongers Brewing Company, or Deep Roots Market. Photos should be taken between now and January 1, 2017. During this time-frame, post your photos to a public Instagram profile. Each photo posted for consideration must include one of these three tags: #DowntownGreenway or #soGSO or tag @downtowngreenway via Instagram. Each Wednesday, between December 14, 2016 and January 4, 2017, we will announce a winner of a $50 gift card to one of the local establishments. Additionally, we will announce the "People's Choice Award" on January 4th for a $25 gift card to each of the four, totaling $100! Photos will be judged by a committee of Action Greensboro and the Downtown Greenway. The "People's Choice" prize will be given to the photo that receives the most "likes"... so share news of the contest with others and get them to vote!
